Epic. I have lost my copy of Illustrator, and damned, my Sonic files too. I cant get them back, so I have to ask someone else to draw that. Sorry. I can still sort out the engine. Infact, I'll show a mockup video soon, If I can.


Glad you like it. I started Labyrinth because i saw there were fewer tiles and they seemed to be easier to be done. GHZ's grass seemed too difficult to do.
I PM'd you with the LZ tiles. Oh, I forgot to say, they're 4x... feel free to resize them 75% (3x) to fit into your engine.

About the sprites... it's a shame you've lost it, because they were good. Well, I'm thinking we could always ask Vincent from Retro if he lets us to use his HD sprites (I know Sonic 2's Sonic has a different pallete that Sonic 1's, but I think the sprites are if not the same, pretty identical, so they may fit).

PS: Oh, I remember that in that PlaySega flash game website... there were S1 tiles ripped from the levels, I think they can be very useful.

I haven't finished LZ, but I think I've figured out how to make GHZ/Marble Zone grass.

I used this photo as a texture. I was searching grass textures in Google images and I thought it was perfect for Green Hill.

No se parece nada a esa imagen pero queda bien, aunque no pegue con los cuadros naranjas xD

Good work, but the grass looks too... 'section'-ally. try to bring out the blades of grass more, layer the blades and use dark to light! Also, I always visioned the grass being a subtle darkstripe/lightstripe effect, like ehz....


Anyway, for a demo video, I will include some of those labyrinth tiles. They are very good.

I'm not sure about what you mean, but I tried to smooth the sides so the change from dark to light is not that sharp.

Maybe smooth the actual seam on the top (at the moment, it's lump, lump, lump). Thats also what i mean, but I like the smoothing.

I decided to re-drawn the grass. Now it looks a bit different than the original tiles, but I think it may look better.

Make the shape/shades at the top simmilar logic to the bottom of each segment, the bottom looks more like grass. And with the checkered tiles, something more like this:

Becuase the issue in yours is they don't give the 3d impression enough.
