Sonic Stadium Forumers Paid for Torrent Access

The purported leaked edition of Sonic Unleashed for both the Playstation 2 and Wii that was offered for torrent on a download site was nothing but a scam.

But that didn’t stop dozens of people on the Sonic Stadium forums from ensuing in a sort of controlled chaos over its authenticity, and of those, a few reportedly paid for the bogus link.

The “news” of the Unleashed link broke a few hours ago in a thread on the Sonic Stadium message boards by forum member Blackarms, a longtime SSMB member, considered a trustworthy source of new information. He had noted the full Playstation 2 edition had been leaked onto the Internet.

Once the details leaked, many forum members went on a scavenger hunt, searching for a download link. Others expressed a variety of emotions toward Sega, from disappointment to shock that this type of error could happen again. You may remember that a version of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood for the Nintendo DS was also leaked days before its official launch. Others simply wanted to go elsewhere, afraid gameplay and story spoilers would be abound in the event of a verified leak. Soon, rumors of a Wii version were floating around, particualrly on the GameFAQs board for that console’s edition of the game.

Even more members begged for links to the download, causing a tizzy as Stadium staff scrambled to remove links to the game, and curb such requests. But when a couple members of the board actually paid for membership on various torrent sites to verify the news, they turned up a total dud. The torrent only yielded the E3 trailer that has been in circulation for months.

Even after the confirmation of a hoax, Sonic Stadium staff couldn’t act quickly enough to lock the forum topic in time and stop the spread of the news. Things got out of hand with unrelated posts and topics, and when Stadium staff member remz did get around to ending the discussion, it came with a stern warning:

there’s a lesson to be learned here.

Instead of sitting around spamming the shit out a topic, when you know it should be locked, click the fucking report button and report it and leave the topic alone. don’t act like a hero posting around saying “OOOH BABY IN BEFORE THE LOCK” just click report, and leave the topic the fuck alone. I forgot what it was like pre game release around here: people just revert to a cave man like level of intelligence, typing with their forehead, whilst posting as many idiotic image memes as possible.

Next time before you post shit on this forum, think of me, and think about whether a permanent ban is really worth that image meme post.

The unrest has been quelled some, but it only shows that there is a fever pitch in the march to launch day, regardless of which edition of Sonic Unleashed you’ll be purchasing. There is a secondary matter in here, and it involves purchasing the privilege of accessing an unauthorized download–quite illegal in of itself, regardless of whether the link was legit or not.

La verdad es que no me extraña que sea constantes los frames en esta consola (me imagino que en PS2 también)... Yo me aburrido con este vídeo le falta algo como tu dices Ricardo

Increíblemente me gusta por la velocidad que pilla... Es impresionante. Independientemente de si se parece o no a los clásicos de MD, creo que por lo menos a mí me va a divertir mucho.

Yo el vídeo no lo he visto, porque ya no miro nada de este juego (quiero reservarme xD), pero lo que había visto de antes me recordó a Sonic GL. Ya lo he dicho muchas veces, eso de correr a toda leche está muy bien, pero cuando sientes que está en semi-automático, el juego se convierte en aburrido, y eso es lo que tenían los originales, que tenían sus partes de velocidad, y sus partes más elaboradas. Hasta en el Socket de Vic Tokai supieron encontrar una solución intermedia: cada fase estaba dividida en tres partes: una de velocidad, otra de habilidad (plataformeo), y otra más laberíntica en la que tenías que orientarte para encontrar la salida. Claro, que para eso están las fases de lobo, pero la verdad es que no sé si funcionará igual ya que más que cambiar la mecánica es como un juego aparte...
